Sit with Dave for a few minutes and you’ll see the intersection of technology and business in a completely new way. To him, and to everyone at Hartman, technology is much more than server rooms and email — it’s a game-changer that delivers powerful business outcomes.
Dave and his wife, Marie, founded Hartman to transform executives’ long held, traditional views of IT and demonstrate how a technology-aligned business strategy is critical for long-term success. This pioneering approach still catches some by surprise; he continues to hear from executives that conversations with Hartman are often the first business discussions they’ve had that include technology.
“We’re a business advisory firm whose easel is technology, and we always approach technology with the objective of achieving our client’s business goals. First, we dig deep to understand their business and assess their needs. Then, in our advisory role, we provide the strategic leadership that will drive their success.” –Dave Hartman
During his eight years as a Naval Flight Officer, and in his early career in IT supporting the healthcare, commercial, retail, government and nonprofit industries, Dave developed strong leadership, analysis and execution skills. He’s also a dedicated collaborator and lifelong relationship builder, expertise he strengthened as an IT management consultant with Andersen Consulting, now Accenture. He uses all of these capabilities to lead the Hartman team as they cultivate trusted, long-term relationships and use their own insight and years of strategic IT leadership to change and transform organizations.
To encourage idea sharing and to spread the message that technology is the lifeblood of business, Dave founded and serves as facilitator of the Maryland CIO Roundtable — a forum where IT executives meet and discuss the intersection of business and technology.
Dave believes leaders must give back to their communities. In addition to supporting Hartman’s team volunteer efforts, he is dedicated to improving educational opportunities for local high school and college students. He serves on the board of the Howard Community College Foundation and is a Leadership Advisory Council member for Baltimore’s Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. You’ll also see Dave’s support for his community in his fervent backing of Maryland sports, especially his beloved Ravens and Orioles. He tries to get to as many games as possible, with family and friends cheering by his side.
